It is time for us

To retreat

From a life that greets

Death in the face

A menace

To nature

That gives

And leaves

But we condone

The downsides of modernity

The relentless pollution of the sea

The demolition of our bounty

All for the cause of civilization

Disguising destruction

And collusion

Between man and man’s hunger for more

We need a blockade

For our useless needs

To surrender

To our beginnings

An island retreat would be nice

If the skies

The water and the trees

Still exist.
